Community Aerodome Radio Stations (CARS)
ATS provides aviation weather and communications services at 18 Community Aerodrome Radio Stations, located at airports across Canada’s Arctic. These remote stations are equipped with meteorological instruments for monitoring and recording aviation surface weather and communications equipment for providing critical operational information to pilots. ATS operational staff provide a variety of services including aerodrome infromation services, vehicle information services and emergency services.
Contract Weather Offices (CWOs)
Contract Weather Offices provide aviation weather services at 90 airports across southern Canada. Equipped with meteorological instruments for monitoring, recording and transmitting aviation surface weather, these observers provide the bulk of weather information for distribution across the country. ATS operates numerous CWOs including 5 International Airports in Vancouver, Ottawa, Toronto, Hamilton and St. John’s.
Aerological Observing Stations
Through agreements with Environment Canada, ATS staff carry out aerological observations in the upper atmosphere. These aerological observations are completed at specified times everyday of the year and transmit the data to Environment Canada who will use this information in forecasting weather.
Meteorological Support / Forecasting
In support of its client service program, ATS provides on-site meteorological technicians, weather observers and/or weather briefers. Additionally through its partnership association with Scotia Weather Services, ATS Services is offering a full range of weather forecasting services and reliable valued-added environmental information services, which operates on a 24/7 basis, using professional meteorologists and Information technology specialists.
Value Added Services
Along with the above services ATS provides a wide range of value added services such as climate programs, clinical observations/equipment testing, aircraft tracking, dispatch services, mobile weather and communications, forestry fire support, consulting and related training programs.
